Enhancing Craft Brewery Construction Solutions for Exceptional Results

With the continuous development of the domestic craft beer industry, a large number of craft breweries have emerged. These craft beers differ from traditional mass-produced beers in terms of raw materials, production processes, and equipment settings. In terms of construction, they can standardize operations and reduce risks. I will share with you an outline of the construction of a craft brewery for reference.

1. Selection of Plant Construction Site

The location should have convenient transportation conditions. If it needs to be built near a road, the shortest distance should be chosen to save on investment.

It must comply with the regional economic development plan, occupy as little arable land as possible, have convenient facilities, and prioritize environmental protection.

There are two options for the construction of a craft brewery: purchasing industrial land or leasing a standard factory building. Due to high power consumption during production, power outage has a significant impact on production. Therefore, an area with sufficient power supply should be selected. As beer production involves water pollution and noise pollution, it should be situated away from residential areas.

2. Functional Areas of the Brewery

The internal equipment of the craft beer workshop should be compactly arranged. It should not only meet current specifications but also fulfill production requirements, reduce energy consumption, facilitate cleaning and visits, and avoid production obstacles and potential safety hazards. The production function of the entire brewery can be divided into production, storage, and management areas. The production area can be further subdivided into areas such as raw material preparation, crushing, saccharification, fermentation, packaging, refrigeration, inspection, and cleaning.

3. Energy Supply Requirements

★ Power Supply Requirements

Long-term power failure is not allowed during the beer brewing process as it would result in significant economic losses. Therefore, there must be a reliable power supply for production.

★ Heating Requirements

The saccharification process, cleaning, sterilization, and other brewing processes require an ample supply of thermal energy.

4. Water Supply and Drainage Function Requirements

Water is one of the most crucial raw materials for breweries. Therefore, ensuring a reliable water supply is essential. Additionally, when constructing the plant, attention should be given to the design of the water supply and drainage system. Furthermore, treated sewage must be directed into the designated municipal pipe network.

5. Environmental Protection Requirements for Plant Construction

The types and locations of pollutants such as waste gas, wastewater, waste residue, dust, and noise released to the outside must comply with construction and discharge regulations.

6. Plant Equipment Management and Other Considerations

High-speed equipment, high-temperature pipelines, and other potential hazards should be equipped with safety warning signs or markings.

A significant amount of carbon dioxide will be generated or utilized during the production process. It is recommended that relevant personnel receive regular training on standard operating procedures to mitigate risks.

During the construction process, the craft beer workshop needs to establish a solid foundation for safe production, both in terms of construction and production management. Regardless of the choice of raw materials and technology, the production process must be strictly controlled to ensure product quality and safe production. This is necessary to produce qualified beer and provide consumers with high-quality, safe, and personalized craft beer.
