Enhancing Your Mixing Experience: Introducing Tank Mixers

As a company that manufactures equipment for a variety of industries, we offer a wide range of options to meet different needs. These industries include coatings, biofuels, agriculture, chemicals, brewing, distillation, food, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and more. A crucial requirement for many of these industries is the use of tank mixers. Tank mixers, also known as tank agitators, are essential for mixing products in tanks. If you’re looking for a company that specializes in tank mixers for your industry, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we will explore various options for tank mixers, focusing on top entry mixers such as flange mount mixers, plate mount mixers, and triple clamp mixers.

Top Entry Mixers

Top entry mixers are among the most commonly used types of tank mixers. This is because they are designed and equipped to handle large-scale applications. Not only are they capable of handling large applications, but they are also highly efficient in mixing fluids with high viscosity. The 5:1 gearbox of a top entry mixer provides worm gear reduction and generates the necessary torque for handling viscous fluids. The key differentiating factor between top entry mixers lies in their mounting type. The three common mounting types are flange mounts, trip clamp mounts, and plate mounts.

Flange Mount Mixers

Flange mount mixers are extremely popular due to their convenient design for heavy-duty applications. The flange mount allows for easy installation in a fixed position onto existing fittings. Flange mount mixers can be attached to fittings of various sizes, ranging from 1.5″ to 12″ ANSI flanges. However, the most commonly used fittings are for 2.5″ 150# ANSI flanges. (“ANSI” flange refers to the norms and guidelines set by the American National Standards Institute.) Another advantage of flange mount mixers is that they seal off the tank fitting, preventing any contamination from entering the mixing process. These mixers include seals made of polymers such as Teflon, Buna, Kalrez, and others. A Mixer Direct Flange Mount Mixer comes with an extra mounted support bearing, all-welded construction, and a durable powder coating. Flange mount mixers can be highly customized for specific applications, with options including different impellers, shaft lengths, gear ratios, and motor types such as electric direct drive, air direct drive, variable speed direct drive, and explosion-proof direct drive.

Plate Mount Mixers

Plate mount mixers are a popular choice for tanks due to their affordable price. They are particularly suitable for tank tops with 2 C-channels. The ease of mounting a plate mount mixer makes it a versatile option. The plates on these mixers are commonly available in sizes such as 12×12, 16×16, or can be customized to fit specific requirements. Plate mount mixers can conveniently attach to a wide range of tank tops. Despite their affordability, plate mount mixers are designed for heavy-duty mixing with a flange-mounted support bearing and all-welded construction. Similar to flange mount mixers, plate mount mixers can be highly customized for specific applications, offering options such as different impellers, shaft lengths, gear ratios, and motor types.

Tri-Clamp Mount Mixers

Tri-clamp mixers are highly sought after for sanitary applications due to their extreme durability and versatility in sterile environments. These mixers often come with features like a mechanical seal rated for sterile environments and a stainless steel propeller with a welded shaft. The tri-clamp mixer is easy to maintain with its easily cleanable surfaces and lightweight construction. Like the other types of mixers mentioned, tri-clamp mixers can be highly customized for specific applications, offering options such as different impellers, shaft lengths, gear ratios, and motor types.
