What factors should be considered when selecting a brewery location?

More and more people are enjoying consuming craft beer, and at the same time, more and more people are planning to enter the industry and open their own brewery. There are several factors to consider when starting a brewery, of which location selection is a crucial step.

1. Geographical Area

The geographical area is extremely important for new breweries. We need to consider the relationship between the factory location and the sales area. The brewery should be located far away from these facilities; otherwise, the brewing quality will be affected.

2. Terrain

Transportation volume: Now, we mentioned that we need to consider the relationship between the factory’s location and the sales area. When planning the site, we need to establish the design and construction of roads, warehouses, and freight yards according to the traffic volume.

3. Surface

The brewery should choose an area with a flat surface, which facilitates the layout. The surface should be level, with a natural slope of about 5/1000, which helps with drainage. At the same time, in terms of geology, it should be noted that there are no mineral deposits, peat, silt, etc., underground, and the groundwater level is below 2.5 meters above the workshop floor elevation.

4. Water Source

In the brewery site selection process, we need to consider which water source we will use for brewing, and what is the water quality of the site. Since the water quality determines the requirements for water treatment equipment after the establishment of the plant, the quality of water has a significant impact on the taste of beer. Therefore, water quality testing can be carried out before determining the plant site, and a decision can be made based on the water quality evaluation report.
